Van DeWater and Van DeWater LLP has significant experience in both public and private sector labor issues. The firm has conducted collective bargaining on behalf of municipal employers. It has also been responsible for prosecuting disciplinary proceedings against police officers and other classes of public employees under Civil Service Law § 75. It is equally experienced in resolving labor grievances by arbitration.

The firm has successfully handled the defense of discrimination complaints filed against both public and private employers before the New York State Human Rights Division. It has represented employers in disputes concerning overtime, fair labor standards, workers' compensation, disability, withholding taxation and other "wage and hour" issues.

The firm is well-informed about principles developed within the Federal National Labor Relations Act, as well as New York State's Taylor Law governing labor relations in both the private and public sectors.
